Long Weekend Upcoming Should I Stay Or Go?

The long weekend is coming up here in BC and I’m at beautiful Christina Lake. This is definitely a town driven by tourism, like most of Southern BC, I’m trying to figure out if I want to hang out here or move on?

I love travelling in the morning as it’s cooler plus the roads are quiet. Sure there are trucks but there are LOT less crazy tourists at that time of day.

I’ve also noticed that around noon I’m ready to get off the roads and vacancies change and camp space(s) become available.

What I never took into account was that summer is tourist season. Never thought of what I’m doing from a tourist perspective.

I’ve found that the best way to get to know a community is to see it. To ride it, walk it and explore it. No map, website or guide book does any of them justice IMO.

I’m finding people are so helpful, approachable and quite interested in what I’m doing. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with travelling solo, the BMW factor or perhaps my good looks (LOL).

So I guess I will be checking out in the morning and go exploring! I’ll let you know what I see and who I meet.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010 a day of many firsts.
I went to the BMW dealer to get my bike when I realized that today was the first day in about six months that I awoke and didn’t take any antidepressants or supplements. Guess this is what it feel like to be free of a dependency on [...]

Drivers are impatient with drivers doing the speed limit. Passing on the right [...]

What grows in the garden of fear is compromise, there is no compromise in freedom

I was glad to wake up this morning and realize that what I was dreaming wasn’t real, but a dream.
In my dream I was a “pastor”. (made me laugh too)
The entire dream and pastoral role was about settling and compromise. It was horrible, I was doing the same thing over and over again [...]

200 feet from my Campsite Last Night

So I followed a path about 200 feet from my campsite and I come to see this view…

Most of the people in the campground never saw this view because they didn’t go exploring. It’s s good reminder to be thankful for where were at and remember to explore, look around, see what you can [...]

I was amazed and in awe of this scene. I feel so grateful and thankful to be able to have the time and resources to experience magnificent mountains of Alberta!
