The worst thing that can happen is for Congress to approve the $700 billion bail out of the merchant banks.

Music, Motivation, and Memories

Certain music really wakes me up and gets me motivated. It seems that songs which have a dreamy, surreal, or unearthly feel are the ones that elicit the greatest response within my being.

They must create a rush of adrenalin or something because I will experience shivers down my back, hair on the back of my neck will stand up, and I will have this sense of clarity and purpose.

A feeling that “I can”. It is very similar when I see athletes at their very best like when they are competing for Olympic gold. They dedicate themselves to training and becoming the best in the world. I find it really inspiring and motivating.

This is the feeling of being in a “peak state” that Anthony Robbins and others talk about. Totally awake, conscious and present in the moment.

Addictive, it is.

Music that gets me in a peak state:

Brother Iz: anything from Iz is great, especially the sound from the movie 50 first dates - “Somewhere over the Rainbow”
Enya - especially the songs from Lord of the Rings
Celestial Soda Pop by Ray Lynch

Anything with Bagpipes! OMG my Scottish DNA must get triggered when I hear the pipes. I think they are one of the greatest instruments for tributes. Reminds me of our neighbor, Mr. Small who played a tribute to my Dad following his funeral at out home. It still brings tears of remembrance to this day even though my father died 34 years ago.

Wow, it’s been 34 years and I still miss my Dad’s smile and words of encouragement. I have learned to move on and live my life to the best of my abilities.

I know he would say he was proud of me because I am proud of myself. I have made challenging and difficult decisions along the path of life and business. They were the right decisions - to put people first.

The golden rule for every business man is this: Put yourself in your customer’s place.

Apple iPhone App Store Is the Worst

You could call me an Apple fanboy because Apple excels at everything it does, almost.

The iPhone App Store has to be the poorest example of a directory trying to promote software applications I have ever seen.

Part of the problem is the developers names of their apps often offer little help to a customer scanning the icons.

Ugh, I really dislike the iPhone App store. Come on Apple, you can do better.

My mother has moved into a retirement residence. It’s part hotel, apartment, and social club.

Pretty neat place. Great people with the gift of hospitality.
